Your New BASIC Card®

We know you love your BASIC Card—it’s smart, easy, and connected. You or someone in your family probably uses it at least once a week. It might even occupy the top spot at the front of your wallet.

We love that you love the BASIC Card, and soon, you’re going to love it even more as we move to our next-generation card processing platform. Combined with our groundbreaking benefits administration platform, it’s a foundation that will support future innovation, like new payment options that align with cardholders’ shopping habits, enhanced privacy and security, and more.

Make Sure You’re Prepared

Your current BASIC Card won’t work on our next-generation platform. On May 25 we’ll need to deactivate the card you have now before we make the move, then we’ll mail your new card on May 27 to the address we have on file for you.

Be sure to disable any automated payments you have set up with your BASIC Card by May 25. They will not go through after that date. (You can re-establish payments after you receive your new card.)

This reissue applies to all cards, including ones issued to spouses and dependents.

If you need to access your benefit account funds or MyCash during the few days (depending on USPS) when you’ll be without a card, don’t panic! You still can.

After Your Card Arrives

We’ll send you another email reminder on the same day that we mail your new BASIC Card. Watch for a plain envelope with a BASIC return address to arrive a few days later.

Your new card doesn’t require activation. You can use it soon as you receive it.
You’ll need to re-establish any automatic payments you had with your old card.

Why is this reissue happening?

We’re moving to our next-generation card processing platform, which is the foundation that will support future innovation in combination with our benefits administration platform. You can look forward to things like:

Real-time transaction and security notifications.

Why can’t I use my old card up until my new card arrives?

The BASIC Card you have now was issued on our old card processing platform. We are moving off of that platform and shutting it down, then moving to our next-generation card processing platform. The two platforms are not connected, so for transaction integrity purposes, we need to have a period of separation between when each platform is in use.

Does that mean I can’t access my funds while my new card is in the mail?

No. Although your BASIC Card is the preferred and most convenient method to access available benefit account funds for all eligible expenses, it’s not the only one. You can still access your funds by requesting reimbursement for an eligible expense, then transferring the reimbursement funds from MyCash to a personal bank account once your request has been approved.
