Welcome to BASIC - CA and Akron, OH Locations

Anesthesiology Associates of Akron, Inc.

Welcome! Open enrollment for the Anesthesiology Associates of Akron, Inc. Flexible Spending Account plan is now through November 20, 2017.  If you want to participate in the plan for the 2018 Plan Year  you must enroll before November 20, 2017.

If you are not already familiar with the FSA plan and how it works, use the links to the right  to learn about the plan. The FSA brochure contains important information about when you can (and can’t) change your election, qualified expenses and how using the plan saves you money. The Savings Calculator page will show you approximately how much you will save in taxes based on your personal income and tax situation.

Use-it or Roll-Over $500. The Treasury Department’s ruling on October 31, 2013 modifies the “use-it-or-lose-it” provision to allow the rollover of up to $500 of unused Health FSA funds to the next plan year. This means that the risk of forfeiting your FSA healthcare contributions is reduced! Plus, the FSA rollover provision eliminates the mad scramble at the end of the plan year to spend remaining Health FSA funds. Now is the perfect time to take a closer look at a Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and take advantage of increased tax savings!

You may make changes to your election any time up to the deadline date noted above. Make the changes you want and resubmit your election. Your prior election will be overwritten.

Please contact BASIC NEO directly if you have any questions about the plan or have problems with your election process, 1-800-775-3539 or admin@BasicNEO.com.

Carryover provision for  Medical FSA plans

For all plan years beginning in 2020, the amount that employers may allow employees to carryover from one plan year to the next will be indexed in step with the maximum salary reduction amount permitted each year. This means that $550 may be carried over from a plan year starting in 2020 to the following plan year beginning in 2021.

I am contributing to a Health Savings Account (HSA) with my bank this year. Can I enroll in the Health FSA plan as well?

No, IRS prohibits enrolling into a general-purpose health Flexible Spending Account if you (or your employer) are contributing to your HSA. However, you are eligible to enroll in a Dependent Care FSA, and if available, a Limited-Purpose Health FSA

General Purpose Health FSA vs. Limited Health FSA

The general-purpose health FSA can be used for any medical expense as allowed by IRS Section 213, including medical, dental, vision, prescriptions, etc. The general-purpose health FSA is not available to you if you participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA).
The Limited-purpose health FSA may be used by employees covered under a Health Savings Account (HSA) Plan. Reimbursement is limited to Dental & Vision expenses ONLY.
