The winter cold is now behind us, and it’s almost time for sunny weather and outdoor activities. With summer temperatures on the horizon, employers should anticipate FMLA abuse. Many employers rely on inexpensive investigative tools, such as social media sites to identify FMLA abuse. But courts are making it increasingly difficult to rely on such tools to prove their employees are committing FMLA fraud. Attorney DeAndre’ Harris will provide an overview of what protections employees are entitled to under the FMLA and will provide practical guidance for preventing employees from abusing those protections.
The first 60 minutes DeAndre’ Harris will present on the above topic. The remaining time will be devoted to Q&A and an insight into BASIC’s FMLA Administration.
Presented by DeAndre’ Harris
DeAndre’ advises employers on various aspects of labor and employment law, including disability and leave issues, wage and hour issues, termination and retirement, and workplace safety and health compliance. He also litigates cases for commercial and employment clients and conducts internal investigations surrounding discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims. From advances in technology to the changing demographic of the workforce, labor and employment laws are rapidly evolving. DeAndre’ provides clients with the foresight necessary to remain compliant in today’s ever-changing workforce. Identifying potential risks within organizations before they occur is one of his specialties – it’s a proactive approach to problem solving that prevents issues from ever taking place. DeAndre’ approaches each situation from the client perspective and uncovers what outcome the client will see as a success, and then tailors his guidance around that desired result.
BASIC’s webinar is approved for 1.0 HRCI and 1 SHRM-CP credits for advanced professional credentials for HR professionals worldwide. Credits are only available for live attendance.
